Abstract: In severe intestinal diseases, malnutrition and gut microbiota dysbiosis can reinforce each other and form a vicious cycle.Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is an effective strategy for restoring gut microbial homeostasis. It may also act synergistically with clinical nutritional therapy. The combined use of FMT and enteral nutrition (EN) can improve EN tolerance. This approach has shown potential clinical value in Crohn’s disease, severe malnutrition, refractory diarrhea, and intestinal dysfunction in the intensive care unit (ICU).For patients requiring longterm parenteral nutrition (PN),FMT may alleviate PNassociated complications. It may also help patients transition to physiological EN.
