Abstract: The occurrence and development of cancer are closely related to micro RNAs.Micro RNAs are key factors in gene expression and regulation and can bind to specific messenger mRNAs or other non-coding ncRNAs to affect cellular processes such as transcription, translation,or signaling.MiR-204-5p is a member of the micro RNAs family.A large number of studies have confirmed that miR-204-5p can inhibit the malignant biological behavior of various cancers, including colorectal cancer (CRC),and down-regulated miR-204-5p can induce the growth, proliferation, migration, invasion and angiogenesis of cancer cells. In recent years,it has been reported that the downregulation of miR-204-5p expression is one of the important reasons for the poor prognosis of CRC.Therefore,miR-204-5p may become a biomarker for CRC screening and a new target for CRC treatment in the future. We will review the role of miR-204-5p in the development of colorectal cancer.
