Methods of molecular diagnosis and significance in breast cancer

Abstract: With the development of high-throughput gene detection technology and the concept of “precision medicine”, molecular diagnosis is more and more involved in the treatment strategy of breast cancer.Oncotype DX(21 gene), MammaPrint(70 gene) and PAM50 detection have been recommended by NCCN guideline to guide the decision-making of adjuvant therapy for breast cancer.We elaborate the most widely used and most accessible molecular diagnostic methods and their significance in breast cancer.Due to the confusion of related detection technology in China,molecular diagnosis could be used as a supplement to traditional clinicopathological factors under the evidence of evidence-based medicine,but it should be limited to specific patients.In the future,multi-gene detection of breast cancer should be standardized,so that patients could be benefit more from this technology.
