Abstract: Scoliosis can lead to anatomical variations of the inferior vena cava, increasing the difficulty of filter retrieval. This patient had longstanding kyphoscoliosis and underwent inferior vena cava filter placement for left lowerextremity deep vein thrombosis one year earlier, with subsequent failed retrieval attempts. Our hospital successfully retrieved the filter intact via a femoral approach using the combined “largesheath technique + guidewire snaring technique + Loop technique.” Postoperative angiography confirmed patency of the inferior vena cava. This case demonstrates that for patients with spinal deformity and challenging filter removal, a combined interventional strategy based on thorough imaging assessment can achieve safe and effective filter retrieval.
