Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship between the prognosis of pediatric testicular torsion and the disease cognition in family and regionality. Methods A analysis was performed on the clinical data of 69 children with testicular torsion treated in Wuhan Children's Hospital,Tongji Medical College,Huazhong University of Science and Technology from January 2018 to December 2023,and the disease cognition in family was understood.Combined with the characteristics of the place of onset of the child,the analysis was performed. Results The cognition of testicular torsion in family was not related to age,occupation,and education level (P>0.05).The lack of prior knowledge about this condition among family members led to delayed initial medical consultation,and the necessity for referral,along with the location of symptom onset,resulted in a prolonged transfer time.The minimal time required for referral is significantly associated with the orchiectomy rate following testicular torsion (P<0.05).The ROC curve analysis of the shortest time required to reach Wuhan Children's Hospital suggested that the cutoff value for predicting testicular resection was 42 minutes,with the sensitivity of 70.7%,the specificity of 85.7%,and the AUC of 0.749. Conclusion Understanding the disease cognition level of the family members of the children with testicular torsion and the reasons for delayed medical treatment is of great significance for improving the salvage rate of the testicles.Grasping the opportunity of referral and improving the ability of regional diagnosis and treatment of testicular torsion can shorten the time of delayed diagnosis and treatment and improve the prognosis of children.
