Abstract: A 17-year-old male was admitted with intermittent right upper abdominal pain for more than 10 days accompanied by fever.He had no previous medical history.Imaging examinations suggested cholecystitis,and gallbladder torsion was not diagnosed preoperatively.Intraoperatively,the gallbladder was found to be twisted 180° clockwise with dark brown gangrenous changes,and laparoscopic retrograde cholecystectomy was performed.The patient recovered well postoperatively.Gallbladder torsion is clinically rare,mostly occurring in elderly females,and extremely uncommon in adolescents.It is easily misdiagnosed as acute cholecystitis preoperatively.This case indicates that for patients with imaging hints of gallbladder inflammation but atypical symptoms,gallbladder torsion should be suspected.Timely surgery can improve prognosis,and laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the preferred treatment.
